The Brunswick Rotary Club is pleased to announce the award of a $3000 grant to Mount Ararat graduate and Region 10 Technical High School student Elizabeth Lamoreau. Rotarian David Taft presented Ms. Lamoreau with a certificate documenting the club’s gift during Friday’s graduation ceremony.

Ms. Lamoreau worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Avita of Brunswick while completing her senior year of high school. She maintained an excellent grade point average during her entire high school career and is a three-year member of the National Technical Honors Society. In addition, she is a licensed emergency medical technician for the Bowdoinham Fire Department.

Jason Darling, one of Elizabeth’s instructors from Maine Region 10 Technical High School shared his impressions of Ms. Lamoreau: “In my time working with Liz I have found her to be a bright, hard-working student with incredible drive and determination.  She is as goal-oriented as any student that I have had the pleasure to work with during my teaching career.  Pursuing a career in the medical field prompted her to enroll in both our Emergency Medical Technician Basic course as well as our Certified Nursing Assistant course – these courses are dual enrollment programs with Southern Maine Community College, and to double up on courses with that level of rigor, especially as an underclassman, is quite an incredible feat. She then enrolled in our Pre-Apprenticeship program as a means to gain real-world experience in the field, which would hopefully differentiate her transcript and allow her to pursue her goals of entering the medical field.”

Ms. Lamoreau will be attending the University of Southern Maine this fall to begin her work towards a Bachelor’s degree in nursing with her ultimate goal to become a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Nurse.

The Brunswick Rotary Club has an annual tradition of awarding one to two grants to graduating Region 10 Technical High School students to be used towards the cost of continuing their education.
